Is YPG membership part of The Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce membership?
No. The Young Professionals Group is a program of The Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce, but the memberships are separate.
How does the YPG communicate with its members?
As a member, you will receive three types of communications. The YPG Plugged-In e-newsletter is sent directly to your email twice monthly (approximately the 1st & 15th of the month) and contains all pertinent updates on upcoming events and programs. If you want to know what events are coming up in the next few months, particularly events that are scheduled closer to the date (i.e. Private Networking Events), this is your best source for timely information. Next, the YPG official print newsletter is published four times a year in SRQ Media Group’s The SRQ Journal and contains photos from recent YPG events, a letter from the chair, a long-term schedule of events, a profile of a new YPG member and other organizational information. You’ll also receive separate emails promoting specific YPG or YPG-endorsed events. These emails also include information about events produced by our non-profit partners. Also, you should check the website frequently as it is a great resource for comprehensive information including events, programs and committees.
How do I change my contact information?
Please email changes to your mailing address, email or phone number to ypg@sarasotachamber.com.
Why don’t I receive YPG emails?
While every member should be receiving YPG emails, a lot of people with AOL accounts have had problems receiving the emails (probably because they go out as broadcast/blast emails), and AOL blocks them. If you are having trouble receiving your email and you applied with an AOL account, you may want to submit a different address at which you wish to receive emails. What is a YPG Member Discount Card? When will I get mine?
The YPG membership card allows paid supporter members to receive discounts at local participating organizations as a part of the Members Benefits Perks Program. You do not need to show your membership card at YPG functions in order to get the member discount. However, if you want to utilize the member benefits at participating businesses, you will need to present your card to obtain the reduced rate or discount. Visit the Programs (link to that page) Web page for updates on YPG Perks. Membership cards are ordered at the end of each month, so you could receive your card anywhere from three to six weeks from the time you paid your membership.
How can I get more involved? How do I volunteer?
An active organization, the YPG depends on the participation of its members. Choose from participating on the following committees: ambassadors, events, finance, government relations, leadership, marketing, member benefits, private networking, sponsorship or volunteer opportunities. You can contact the chair of a committee directly to let them know that you are interested. The email address of all committee chairs is available on the YPG Board (link to that page) page. Pending availability, the chair may ask you to join their committee.
