
The Governmental Issues Council tracks the City Commission agendas/meetings to keep pace with any ordinances and/or resolutions. Regular meetings of the Sarasota County Commission are typically scheduled and start at 9 a.m. on the second and third Tuesday and Wednesday of each month. They are held at the Sarasota County Administration Center, 1660 Ringling Blvd., Sarasota, with one meeting held at the Robert L. Anderson Administration Center, 4000 S. Tamiami Trail, Venice. PURPOSE: To make recommendations to the Sarasota County Commission on the implementation of the solid waste charter amendments and other issues pertaining to solid waste management. REQUIREMENTS: Members must be residents of Sarasota County unless they are an employee representing a municipal government agency. Members are required to attend an Advisory Committee orientation within six (6) months of their appointment and must attend at least 75% of the Advisory Committee meetings in a calendar year. TERM: Remainder of non-expired terms - Town of Longboat Key expires March 1, 2009. MEETINGS: Second Wednesday of every other month at 3pm.

PURPOSE: The purpose of the advisory committee is to assist the board in the promulgation of rules, regulations, and policies, and to provide recommendations to the board. REQUIREMENTS: Members must be a Sarasota County resident and shall have experience in water and wastewater related accounting, management, engineering, customer serice, or shall have served in an official capacity with a homeowner's association or other organization which provides water or wastewater services or rountinely participates in regulatory or policy matters related to water or wastewater. No member shall be employed by any municipality within the county. Members are required to attend an Advisory Committee orientation within six (6) months of their appointment and must attend at least 75% of the Advisory Committee meetings in a calendar year.TERM: Three (3) year. MEETINGS: First Thursday of each month at 9 a.m.
